Mark Andre Ter-Stegen is about to sign a new contract with Barcelona. The plan is for the German to sign a new contract with Barça before the continuation of the Champions League or before the start of next season, that is, in the next month.

However, the bad news is that Ter-Stegen will have to have surgery due to a chronic tendon injury. What’s good is he will be able to defend in the Champions League final, starting against Napoli on August 8 and later in Lisbon if Barça beat the Italians.

The medical team advised the German to go for surgery immediately after the Champions League, but the problem is that recovery takes up to four months.

That would mean that Ter-Stegen would not defend practically until the end of 2020, which is a big blow for Barça, because he is certainly the second best player next to Leo Messi.

For now, there are no confirmations, but this news about the operation was transmitted by reliable Asa sources, referring to people close to the German goalkeeper.

Ter-Stegen arrived in Barça in the summer of 2014 from Borussia Monchengladbach for only 12 million euros.
